Submission to Treasury Consultation on Measuring what Matters

Mental Health Australia commends the Australian Government for committing to ‘measuring what matters’ to improve the lives of Australians, by developing a holistic national framework to track progress and wellbeing.

Mental health is an intrinsic component of our individual and collective wellbeing, quality of life, and capacity to contribute and participate socially and economically. Given this, Treasury should include mental health as a key measure of national progress and wellbeing in the national framework to ‘measure what matters’. This brief submission outlines examples of mental health indicators for Treasury to consider.
